After two years of dating, the couple is engaged!
The Puerto Rican singer popped the big question at the 2022 Tomorrowland on Sunday (July 31) in Boom, Belgium, during Steve Aoki’s set.
“Guys, this is my beautiful girlfriend Lele Pons and I want to ask her a quick question,” Guaynaa said to the many thousands of fans in the audience. “I know what this means to you and how much you love Tomorrowland — Lele, will you marry me?”
Among tears of joy, the Venezuelan influencer-turned-singer said “yes” without hesitation.
Backstage, the newly-engaged couple celebrated with their celebrity friends, including Paris Hilton, Kimberly Loaiza, JD Pantoja, and Aoki himself, who provided the couple his platform. “We’re getting married!!! I love you with all my heart @guaynaa !! Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you! 100x YESS!!!” Pons later shared the news to her 49 million followers on Instagram.
“Everyone knew except for her. Thank you to everyone who helped with this surprise,” Guaynaa also posted on his Instagram, tagging their good friends Hannah Stocking, Paris Hilton, Steve Aoki, Twan, Malik, Like Mike, Dimitri Vegas, Mau y Ricky, Stef Roitman, and Lele’s family members Chayanne, Isadora Figueroa, and Lorenzo Figueroa.
Lele and Guaynaa, who first met in 2019, collaborated for the first time in the summer of 2020, dropping their flirtatious urban track “Se Te Nota.” After much speculation about whether they were dating or not, Lele made the relationship Instagram-official in December. Nearly two years later, the couple will soon tie the knot.
In celebration of the big news, Billboard compiled a timeline of their relationship below.
August 31, 2020: The First Post
Lele Pons teased a snippet of her collaboration with Guaynaa. In the clip, she shared a part of the song’s beat alongside a video that captured various clips of the two artists having fun at the recording studio, beach, and on the set of the music video. She simply captioned the post with a heart and fire emoji, tagging Guaynaa and including the song’s release date.
September 3, 2020: "Se Te Nota"
Lele dropped her first collaborative effort with Guynaa that September: “Se Te Nota,” a playful pop-urban song about having a crush on someone and making it obvious. “You can tell that you want my lips/ Be careful if you touch them/ You won’t want to stop,” goes the catchy chorus. The music video, directed by Jose-Emilio Sagaro in Miami, perfectly captures both Lele’s and Guaynaa’s fun and quirky personalities. In the video, Lele even snatches a pop kiss from Guaynaa.
September 4, 2020: On Promo
The next day, Lele and Guaynaa were doing promotion for the single in New York together, where they took the time to create funny clips together.
September 20, 2020: 20 Million Views
With this set of photos, Lele and Guynaa celebrated the music video for “Se Te Nota” reaching 20 million views on YouTube.
October 8, 2020: Late-Night TV
In October 2020, the Venezuelan influencer-turned-singer and Puerto Rican artist performed their single on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, giving the song its late-night TV debut alongside a live band. The performance was staged in Miami, on a balcony overseeing the ocean. “AHHHH Can’t believe I’m gonna be performing ‘Se Te Nota’ on @fallontonight 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY!!” Lele expressed on Instagram.
October 20, 2020: 100 Million Views
The pair was gradually seen hanging out more and more often, sharing short clips on social media, primarily to celebrate the success of their song together — like this video, commemorating when it reached 100 million views on YouTube.
October 26, 2020: A "Se Te Nota" Celebration
Then, this photo of the two in a helicopter, to celebrate the song entering the top 30 on Spotify’s Global chart. That same month, the song peaked at No. 25 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart.
October 31, 2020: Their First Halloween
For Halloween, pair dressed up as Lisa Simpson and Milhouse Van Houten from The Simpsons, and attended various parties together.
November 4, 2020: A Halloween Smooch
As if their first couple’s costume was not enough, Lele also shared a photo of the two dressed as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, locked in a kiss. “We all need a third wheel,” she captioned the photo — tagging Colombian singer-songwriter Sebastian Yatra, who was also present in the pic.
December 12, 2020: It's Official!
After much speculation, the couple made their relationship Instagram-official that December. “MINE (It’s official),” Lele expressed alongside a set of photos of the two having fun in the snow.
January 4, 2021: Couple's Retreat
The next January, Lele and Guaynaa spent the holidays in Puerto Rico together. “Last Day 💔💔 gonna miss you so much :((( thank you for the best week !!!” she captioned the sweet photos.
February 13, 2021: A TikTok Couple
In February 2021, we began to see Guaynaa explore his content creator side — joning Lele on more of her funny videos and skits for social media.
March 25, 2021: Going Strong Since 2019
Though the first time we saw Lele and Guaynaa together on social media was in the fall of 2020, that March Lele revealed that the two actually met in 2019.
July 10, 2021: A Couple Transformation
You know what they say: Couples who work out together, stay together, and in the summer of 2021, both Lele and Guaynaa surprised fans with a total body transformation.
August 28, 2021: Homeowners
Taking a big step in their relationship, both Lele and Guaynaa revealed last August that they had bought their first home together.
January 17, 2022: A True Act of Love
Early this year, Lele revealed Guaynaa was in an auto accident. “Thank you for all the love and messages! @guaynaa was a victim of a car accident! He is now in the process of recovery and will continue to be for the next couple of days! So blessed and fortunate that nothing happened and he’s okay,” she noted.
April 25, 2022: A Fake Proposal
In April, the couple shared photos of their fake proposal. “I SAID YE…..NEVERMIND,” Lele joked. In the photo carousel, we see Guaynaa kneeling in one photo and then actually tying his shoes in another.
July 31, 2022: A Real Proposal
Then in late July, Guaynaa finally popped the big question at the 2022 Tomorrowland Festival, where friends Steve Aoki, Kimberly Loaiza, Paris Hilton, and many more were in attendance. “We’re getting married!!!❤️💍 I love you with all my heart @guaynaa !! Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you! 100x YESS!!!” she wrote on Instagram.
