Do you let your babies taste food? Not to eat anything but like lick an apple that I’m holding or just a little taste of something on my finger? FTM with 3.5 month old and not sure whether that’s ok or not? Not planning to introduce her to actually eating food until she meets all the necessary benchmarks.

From everything I’ve read there’s no harm. If it upsets her tummy just don’t give it to her. But the equivalent of a small drop of foods won’t hurt and is sometimes encouraged as an early introduction to food! Just no full “bites”

It’s probably okay but I personally wouldn’t, it’s no rush! Glad you’re waiting until the necessary bench marks and not just diving in at 4 months like a lot of people

I won't until earliest 5/6 months. no reason for it, research shows it's best to wait.

@ouat2244,
research shows it’s best to wait until they can get effectively get the food down before giving full bites and full bellies of food but allergens are best started at 4 months in small amounts! I even asked my ped about this and he agreed

I put the food I'm eating in front of his mouth just to see if there is a reaction, but he just stares at me like; mam, what do you want me to do with this? I also noticed that he wants to drink from the boob soon after he sees me eating something. almost like he wants a taste of what I ate through breastfeeding... but I'm not letting him taste or eat anything until he shows signs that he is ready..

I do it ♀️ i also plan on introducing purees next week when baby is 4 months. I follow his cue and he has been mimicking me eating and opening his mouth for spoons/bottles

I would say don’t. That’s just my view. The WHO suggests 6 months and most medical organizations agree. Just my view. To each their own of course ❤️
