The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is seeking a full-time Medical Program Assistant-Associate, to serve as the Heath Unit Clerk for an assigned member care floor. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our dedicated team!

Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor (DON) and with day-to-day direction of licensed nursing staff, the Medical Program Assistant-Associate (Unit Clerk) provides administrative program support and coordination for a nursing unit at the WVHUG. Duties include acting as the key resource person on the nursing unit for transcribing, recording, maintaining, obtaining and retrieving records and clinical information, to assist nurses, physicians and all other disciplines responsible for member care. The incumbent follows and incorporates medical standards for recording and maintaining clinical records in a long-term-care facility and ensures paperwork for required reporting is completed within established timelines.

Starting wage is $21.23 per hour, plus an attractive employee benefits package.
The Medical Program Assistant-Associate is in pay schedule-pay range 02-11. For current State employees, pay on hire will be set following the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
The Health Unit Clerk works Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Well-qualified applicants will list their degree/s or certification/s in medical administrative support or related fields.
Additional required and preferred qualifications that will be assessed later in the selection process are experience:
Using computers; and
Providing administrative support; and

Using Microsoft Office Suite; and/or
Using electronic medical records; and/or
Working with a multidisciplinary team; and/or
Independently completing multiple assignments
